10 May, 2023

The first international hospital in Moldova redefines medicine at the national level by launching Medpark 2.0, the most ambitious healthcare project in the country and the largest investment project in its sphere. Almost half of the total investments were allocated over the last two years, for doubling physical capacities, developing innovations, increasing expertise, purchasing high-performance equipment, and considerably expanding the range of services.

The opening ceremony was attended by Dumitru Alaiba, Minister of Economic Development and Digitization, along with other officials, ambassadors, founders, partners, and the hospital’s medical team.

Dumitru Alaiba, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitization: “Moldova can change, and it can change very quickly. It is our deep belief, and this can happen through punctual initiatives, through concrete initiatives, through the small changes that each of us makes in their workplace, in their business, in their position. We will continue to absolutely support the initiatives that come to help our economy, our population despite the volatile, uncertain times. What is happening today proves that it is possible to have news like this, and we need a lot more of it to help this country. Congratulations on everything you have managed to do here in a very short time!”

Uygar Mustafa Sertel, Ambassador of Turkey to the Republic of Moldova: “We are here today on a special occasion – the Medpark family is expanding, and the Summa family is expanding. People will continue to have access to quality health services now, in the second stage of development. I sincerely thank the team, the engineers, but also the employees, the medical team for the sacrifices and the good result. Summa is a successful construction company, and Turkish investments connect our countries for a prosperous future.”

Inaugurated in 2011, Medpark is a unique project supported by investors from the USA and Turkey. The investments have had a paramount impact at the national level, providing access to modern high-quality treatment for many citizens and creating more jobs. Over the years, Medpark International Hospital has won a great number of awards and international titles, being the only hospital in Moldova accredited by the Joint Commission International as one of the safest medical institutions around the globe.

Sinan Bora, Vice-President of the Summa Board, Chairman of the Medpark Board: “Medpark is a project we put our whole soul into, and we would like to expand it in order to reach as many patients in the country and in the region as possible. With investments of over 42 million euros and doubled physical capacities, this year Medpark International Hospital takes medicine in Moldova to another level – Medpark 2.0. In the coming years, we intend to keep making priority investments in the hospital development, as it is one of Summa’s most important projects we created and have been managing in 14 countries.”

Medpark 2.0 is a unique model of healthcare, supported by innovations, a qualified team, international standards, transformations within medical centers, and expanded infrastructure. With its team of over 850 employees, ongoing investments in professional development and staff training at the most prestigious international healthcare centers, Medpark is a pace-setting hospital which has by now registered 20 national medical firsts.

Olga Șchiopu, Medpark International Hospital Director: “Medpark 2.0 is more than just extended space. It is about the opportunities to enjoy complex high-quality medical services for more people, and also about developing the existing excellence centers and creating new ones with unique competences in our country. Uniting a number of medical specialties under the same roof enables us to apply an integrated multidisciplinary approach to the patient and use effective personalized treatments. I would like to sincerely thank the investors, the founders, the partners, and all the professionals at Medpark – all those who make this extraordinary project possible.”

The event was an opportunity to bring the “Medpark people” – doctors, managers, founders, partners, and investors – into limelight and to grant the Medpark 2.0 award as a sign of gratitude for their essential contribution to creating, developing, and supporting the evolution of the hospital.

Aureliu Batrînac, prof., cardiovascular surgeon, Medpark medical director: “I would like to thank the entire team of doctors, medical assistants, nurses, because in this hospital we have the opportunity to help people, to reduce their suffering. We must continue to do so, but given the conditions you have seen and will see, it would be a shame not to do so at the highest level. This hospital stands out thanks to its team, its people, because, after all, patients come to certain people. Medpark is a team of beautiful people, professional people.”

Sedat Kadanali, prof., obstetrician-gynecologist, reproductive specialist, developer of the Medpark In Vitro Fertilization Department: “I want to share with you one of my memories that I made here at Medpark. Following a collaborative meeting with the team here, I treated a lady from Moldova, who had a heartbreaking story. She tried to get pregnant for over 10 years. She did many treatments, she also went to Ukraine, to Kiev, she had many interventions, but it failed. Following the in vitro fertilization at Medpark, she became pregnant. A few months later I came to Moldova, I saw the lady and I asked her: ‘Do you remember me?’ She looked at me and said, ‘Of course, you are my God!’ Now imagine how we are changing people’s lives at the Medpark In Vitro Fertilization Center.”

Today, with the creation of a new wing, Medpark International Hospital has expanded to an area of 22,500 m² and has all the necessary equipment for precise diagnostics and professional treatment for its patients. Medpark 2.0 is also about expanding the capacities of the 9 specialized centers in order to treat as many local and international patients as possible. The hospital’s surgical block consists of 7 operating rooms, 5 natural delivery rooms, and 2 C-section delivery rooms, including intensive care beds for adults, children, and newborns. The laboratory is modern and adequately equipped for precise diagnostics based on microbiology, molecular biology, and pathomorphology test results. Medpark medical imaging is one of the most well-equipped centers of this kind in the country and offers magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, PET-CT, scintigraphy, angiography, digital radiography, ultrasound examination, echocardiography, and endoscopy.

Medpark 2.0 – the evolution continues!
