The family doctor is a specialist with multidisciplinary training that provides primary and continuous healthcare. Its purpose is the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of internal diseases, and the promotion of the health among individuals, family and community.
Assessment of family doctor includes:
- Primary consultation: examination of the patient, the analysis of the causes for addressing to doctor, assessment of the condition of the patient;
- There are determined pathological signs and symptoms that may be caused by internal diseases;
Laboratory/ functional tests (laboratory tests, imaging evaluations: USG, X-rays, CT, MRI, etc.)
Redirection to medical specialists, if needed; - Repeated consultation (examination of the patient after the indicated treatment or investigations);
- Development of a treatment plan (treatment indicated following investigations or during the primary consultation, depending on the situation).
