Brachioplasty (arm lift)

PURPOSE:

An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, reduces excess skin and fat between the underarm and the elbow, reshapes your arm, and results in a more toned and proportionate appearance.

Brachioplasty is one of the less known plastic surgeries but its contribution to regaining the former good body looking is undisputed which results in both physical and psychological improvement of the patient.

This kind of surgery is indicated for eliminating the skin and fat tissue excess from the brachial area which can be noticed during the arm lifting. This condition is a normal physiological process as well as it can appear after significant weight loss.

INTERVENTION:

The medication choice is general anesthesia for approximately one hour for each arm. Incisions are generally placed on the inside of the arm or just under the armpit and may extend from the underarm (axilla) to just above the elbow. Then, underlying supportive tissue is tightened and reshaped with internal sutures. Finally, the skin is smoothed over the new contour of your arm.

Following your surgery, dressings or bandages may be applied to your incisions, and your arms may be wrapped in an elastic bandage or a compression garment to minimize swelling.

RECOVERY:

The smoother, tighter contours that result from brachioplasty are apparent almost immediately following your procedure, although initial results will be somewhat obscured by swelling and bruising. Your new, shapely and toned upper arm is dramatically improved both in appearance and feel.
