For the maximum safety of the investigations, the medical staff is qualified and trained with multiple specializations in pediatric imaging, and the work area is equipped with equipment suitable for the child’s age.

Diseases that can be diagnosed by pediatric imaging

Pediatric imaging is required for a wide range of conditions in children. These include various pathologies of the brain, spinal cord, abdomen, pelvis, joints. It is most frequently called for:

  • assessment of congenital malformations, of the central nervous system, respiratory, cardiac, digestive, renal, perinatal pathology.
  • evaluation of cases of persistent headache, dizziness, sleep disturbances, changes in behavior, suddenly installed decreased vision or hearing;
  • assessment of delayed speech or psychomotor development delay;
  • detection of certain diseases of the nervous system, such as epilepsy, hydrocephalus, microcephaly;
  • detection of volume formations;
  • diagnosis and monitoring of oncological conditions.
The importance of preparing children for imaging investigations

Unlike adults, children require more informational preparation for imaging investigations, both with and without general anesthesia. They are given simple explanations of what is going to happen, and usually the scanning procedure arouses more interest than fear.

Also, the presence and support of parents is very important for maintaining calm. In some cases, a parent or trusted person is present during the exam to hold the child’s hand and remind them to stay calm.
